• We remember the Argentine musician Marciano Cantero of Los Enanitos Verdes

Cantero was the mainstay of a group that with Felipe Staiti on guitar and Daniel Piccolo on drums, from Mendoza, brought a different color to the growing Argentine rock scene of the early 80s.

Along the way, the trio found its greatest sounding board at the 1984 La Falda Festival in Córdoba, where they became a revelation and that accolade allowed them to reach Buenos Aires and record their debut independent album "Los Enanitos Verdes" for which I added the guitar and vocals of Sergio Embroni (guitar and vocals), which included "Aún sigo cantando", their first hit.

Already with Tito Dávlia instead of Embroni to join the base trio and with Andrés Calamaro as artistic producer, the band released in 1986 "Contrarreloj" where they recorded other high impact songs such as "Tus viejas cartas", "Cada vez que digo adiós" and "La muralla verde".

Also with "El Salmón" as support and inviting Cantero to join in "No te bancaste" from his own album "Por mirarte", Enanitos Verdes released "Habitaciones extrañas" where to his arsenal of highly popular pieces he added the titles "Te vi en un tren" and "Por el resto", as well as a personal version of "El extraño del pelo largo".

By then and following in the footsteps of Zas and Soda Stéreo, the band began to venture into a territory that would definitively mark their path as they toured Latin America and quickly became a reference of Argentine rock in the countries of the region and a notable aesthetic influence for young people in those countries.
