• A Solidarity Song for the Peoples of Latin America

Guatemalan singer-songwriter "Csarlima" presented his new album "Cicatrices" last Friday, January 28th with a charming concert at the auditorium of the Chamber of Industry in Guatemala City.

Cicatrices is an album full of social themes, songs that reflect the shared realities of the people of Latin America and is an invitation to reflection, also subtly fusing musical styles as broad as the musical culture of our countries. From songs like "200 años de que?" that sound strong, uplifting and epic to songs like "El campesino" and "Lupita" that evoke a Guatemalan folk sound expressing the drama of people living in the countryside.

The album closes with the title track "Cicatrices", a song that combines many elements making a valid tribute to Latin America. With a base of salsa and rumba, electric guitars drawn from pop and rock, and lyrics that expose the region as the result of its social problems and the scars they leave behind, this song is a perfect ending to both the album and the concert that night.

During the concert, in addition to the presentation of each of the songs, we saw some guests passing by, such as the first theater actress "Ana Maria Bravo" presenting "Lucia" and the producer Frances Lambourg making a synopsis of the book "the last winter rain" also published by Csarlima in 2020; additionally the musical participation of Mario David and Sõle singing their most recent work.
