The Golden Globe Awards were held on January 10 and this year's winner in the Best Song category was RRR with the song Naatu Naatu, becoming the first film from India to win a Golden Globe.
Naatu Naatu, meaning Dance Dance in Telugu language used in some districts of India, was produced and co-written by MM Keeravaani along with Chandra Bose, and performed by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. The Best Song category awards the prize based not only on the song but also on how well it fits and works in the film.
A highlight of Naatu Naatu is its choreography which went viral on some social platforms where people try to repeat the steps of the original video.
The reactions in India after receiving the award were not long in coming, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on twitter "A very special accomplishment" and congratulated the entire team that participated. As did Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu - "Every Indian is proud of the global recognition for #NaatuNaatu song from #RRRMovie Heartiest congratulations to ace music composer, Keeravani Garu & RRR team for bagging the #GoldenGlobes2023 Award for the best original song!"
