    EUROVISION SONG FESTIVAL 2022

    On May 14, 2022, the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy.  Prior to this day, two semi-finals will be held on May 10 and 12, with 40 participating countries, all members of the European Broadcasting Union.

    The first semi-final will have 17 participants and the second with 18, making a total of 35. Germany, Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom will have a direct qualification for the final, as they are members of the Big 5, i.e. the countries that contribute most to the EBU (European Broadcasting Union).

    In the first semifinal, the countries that will participate are: Albania, Latvia, Lithuania, Switzerland, Slovenia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Moldova, Portugal, Croatia, Denmark, Austria, Iceland, Greece, Norway and Armenia, who will be eligible to vote.

    France and Italy will be present at this semi-final and will act as voters.  The live broadcast will show 55 seconds of each rehearsal, which will then be published on the contest's website.
    In the second semi-final, the participating countries are Finland, Israel, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Malta, San Marino, Australia, Cyprus, Ireland, North Macedonia, Estonia, Romania, Poland, Montenegro, Belgium, Sweden and the Czech Republic, with voting rights.

    Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom will be present in this semifinal, acting as voters, and the same process will be followed as in the first semifinal.

    For the closing ceremony, the twenty finalists from the heats, as well as the five countries that automatically qualify, will make a live presentation. All countries will be entitled to vote and their scores will be broadcast live. Each vote will be by televote and a professional jury.

    The festival will be hosted by singer Laura Pausini, singer-songwriter Mika and famous TV presenter Alessandro Cattelan.  The semi-finals and the final will be broadcasted on the official website of Radio Televisión Española - RTVE.
